Terahertz waveguide with a negative effective index of refraction measured using time domain techniques

摘要: We present the first experimental realization of a terahertz (THz) waveguide that exhibits negative effective index refraction. To demonstrate this, we designed fabricated and characterized linear array three-dimensional structures consist split ring resonators posts. THz radiation is launched guided in form surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) along 3D metallic structures. Using time-domain spectroscopy, measure temporal evolution propagating SPP, which yields evidence refractive index.
