摘要: Objective. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) (insulin pump) therapy in routine pediatric diabetes care by comparing HbA 1c , body mass index (BMI), and hypoglycemic episodes before after initiation CSII therapy. Research Design Methods. Data from 56 patients (7-23 years old) were collected during regularly scheduled visits at a frequency similar non-CSII patients. Results. data analyzed for entire cohort 3 subgroups (decreased, stable, or increased ) stratified according ≥0.5% change total demonstrated decrease 8.5% 8.3%. decreased (39.4% cohort) significant 8.6% 7.6%. mean stable (41.0%) 8.7%. (19.6%) had an increase 7.8% 8.8%. Thirty-six (64.3%) maintained achieved <8.0% least 1% lower than their pre-CSII level. Of concern, 6 (10.7%) clinically 8.3% 9.6%. For cohort, rate severe hypoglycemia on 12.3 9.5 events per 100 patient-years, respectively. A statistically proportion reported seizure versus (17.9% vs 1.8%) as well overall (41.1% 17.9%). There not BMI, even cohort. Conclusions. is appropriate option some children care. It can effectively reduce episodes, without producing abnormal BMI.
