摘要: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) represent a broad class of chemicals, many which can be found in indoor air including residential air. VOCs derive from variety sources cleaning products, cooking practices, fragrances and fresheners, hobbies at-home work behaviors. This study examined homes (n = 99) southeast Louisiana using passive vapor monitors gas chromatography/mass spectrometry to determine if select were present, at what concentrations, those posed any potential long-term health risks. Twenty-nine targeted cross-sectional analyses 48-h sampling period. Twelve detected most the sampled xylenes, pinenes, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, hexane, pentane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride. Concentrations alkanes BTEX highly correlated (Spearman’s r > 0.63, p < 0.0001). Using risk measures (i.e. reference concentrations [RfCs] inhalation unit risks [IURs]) available USEPA non-cancer assessments cancer developed for some these VOCs. Alkanes likely come same source(s). existing standards published by USEPA, no unacceptable evident except under extremely high concentrations. Lifetime risks, on other hand, may well considered chloroform benzene (upper IUR) combination These exceeded 1 10,000 threshold 35–50% our simulations. Further low-income women’s this area is needed. Including larger number reveal yet more
