摘要: Dead regions in the cochlea have been suggested to be responsible for failure by hearing aid users benefit from apparently increased audibility terms of speech intelligibility. As an alternative more cumbersome psychoacoustic tuning curve measurement, threshold-equalizing noise (TEN) has reported enable diagnosis dead regions. The purpose present study was first assess feasibility TEN test protocol, and second, ability procedure reveal related functional impairment. latter done a recognition low-pass-filtered items. Data were collected 22 hearing-impaired subjects with moderate-to-profound sensorineural losses. results showed that 11 exhibited abnormal behaviour test, indicative possible region. Estimates used connection between dead-region candidacy recognize speech. Large variability observed regard predict scores both no-dead-region subjects. Furthermore, indicate might better than at recognizing marginal audibility.
