摘要: Estrogens and progestagens (ovarian steroids) not only play an important a role in sexual behavior reproduction, but they are involved the development, regulation, function of all body systems, including aging, sleep, pain, pharmacodynamics, immune response, cognition. They essential to maintenance cardiovascular, renal, mental, bone health. Often, their effects positive absence, negative. However, certain contexts can promote development cancers neurologic conditions. Finally, ovarian steroids even affect response pharmacologic treatments for many diseases. Given central human biology, it is be able accurately determine circulating levels these hormones. To facilitate such endeavors, this review provides comprehensive overview normal abnormal physiology, primarily women. It discusses sensitivity, specificity, precision most commonly used assays estrogens progestagens: bioassay, immunoassay, mass spectrophotometry. Examples how each has been with samples taken from serum, urine, saliva provided. Strengths limitations method discussed.
