摘要: Abstract Within the framework of setting environmental quality criteria for certain heavy metals in sediment, Acid Volatile Sulphide (AVS) has been proposed as primary standardisation parameter combination with amount simultaneously extracted (SEM). From a series toxicity studies published literature, it was concluded that SEM/AVS ratio is able to predict quite well availability various different organisms. Incorporation deriving sediment proposed, principally U.S. This study designed investigate applicability AVS-concept Dutch criteria. Due dynamic behaviour AVS especially natural systems, knowledge respect spatial and seasonal variations SEM levels required proper application AVS-concept. detected 95% investigated samples. The corresponding found be smaller than one 19 out 21 According literature data, toxic effects from are expected absent under these conditions. Hence, implementation seems justified regarding our observations. However, concentrations were observed, which may lead metal organisms during year. Although sediments, patterns all cases. observation very promising further acceptance
