摘要: A literature review was conducted to summarize current understanding of the effects severe chronic renal failure (CRF), when present from infancy, on neurologic development. Data were obtained results 95 examinations performed in 85 patients, most whom had been studied after 12 months age, or following initiation maintenance dialysis successful transplantation. CRF diagnosed at birth during neonatal period 71.7% these patients; serum creatinine concentrations calculated clearances ≥2.0 mg/dl (177 μmol/l) 2 standard deviations below mean for age 33 51 (64.7%) patients. Developmental delay identified 63.2% all cases, and 29 48 (60.4%), 16 19 (84.2%), 4 13 (30.7%) patients while receiving conservative management dialysis, transplantation, respectively. Moderate delays commoner gross motor language No significant relationships could be between severity diagnosis either prevalence developmental delay. Other factors that may have contributed observed are also discussed, including aluminum loading, hyperparathyroidism, undernutrition, psychosocial problems. New data presented recommendations future studies provided.
