摘要: Abstract The widely used even-age management including small and uniformly sized regeneration areas together with the small-patterned private ownership are major features reshaping Finnish forest structure. object of study was to examine spatial temporal dynamics a real transforming landscape that consists several privately owned units. A area ca. 9600 ha in 1940s, 1960s 1990s study. effect harvesting examined by classifying land into no-canopy closed-canopy classes. No-canopy include both harvested naturally open areas. Closed-canopy development stages young, middle-aged, mature old forests. Different scales were investigated sampling square windows. Largest patch index (LPI), mean size (MPS), area-weighted shape (AWMSI) edge density (ED) calculated for class as an average sampled squares at selected scales. Investigation metrics their variability more informative than averaging entire single given scale. shows has clearly changed structure forests during time span under investigation. Presently, changes caused forestry take place very fine scales, therefore units useful
