摘要: The establishment of protected areas had negative consequences on local communities. shift in conservation resulted restriction access to resources, disruption culture and economies by tourists, increased predation crops livestock displacement inhabitants. A survey was undertaken determine relationship between respondent's socio-economic characteristics their attitudes perceptions towards area conservation, the effect wildlife benefits associated cost if respondent affected proximity residence Marsabit National Reserve. One hundred eighty-seven households were selected through stratified random sampling surveyed using questionnaire composed both open closed ended questions. Information acquired triangulated informal interviews, field observations focused group discussions. Cross-tabulation Pearson Chi-square test controlled for variables used differences independent attitudes. sex awareness do not affect while age, level education, economic activities, accrued damages, restricted use resources distance from reserve significantly In addition, age damage related activities.
