摘要: Abstract Observations were made on several hydrological features of Bay Islands during 1970 to 1971. The topography allows for a gradual change from estuarine oceanic conditions within the harbour. Monthly means sea surface temperatures ranged between 15°c and 23°c, some stratification was observed summer. Salinities in main basin about 35.5‰; water transparency 2 m 6 by Secchi disc estuaries, more than 15m outer areas. Dissolved oxygen content high, usually exceeding 100% saturation waters. Water circulation bay appears consist an anti‐clockwise movement at least water, induced north‐west moving current, possibly derived East Auckland Current. observations suggest that, except; areas, is hydrologically fairly homogeneous, well‐mixed body water.
