摘要: Abstract Background Medicaid provides health coverage to those beneath the federal poverty line. The literature shows that patients with experience barriers scheduling initial and follow-up visits, although this has not been studied in undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). purpose of study is assess whether insurance type, geographic location, expansion, or academic affiliation affect access evaluation for THA. Methods American Academy Orthopedic Surgeons directory was used call a 100 practices. Five random private 5 medical facilities were called from each Medicaid-expanded non-expanded states representing different US regions. Calls made by an investigator requesting earliest available appointment their fictitious parent be evaluated Half calls reporting Blue Cross Shield (BCBS), half Medicaid. Appointment success rate average time compared. Further comparisons drawn among vs states, regions, affiliation. Results Appointments successful 99 (99%) BCBS, 72 (72%) (P Conclusion Patients seeking consultation THA limits when compared insurance, regardless region practice.
