Image-guided frameless stereotactic biopsy without intraoperative neuropathological examination.

摘要: Object Stereotactic biopsy is a safe and effective technique for the diagnosis of brain tumors. The use intraoperative neuropathological examination has been routinely advocated to increase diagnostic yield, but procedure lengthens surgical time, may produce false-negative -positive results, current techniques have very low nondiagnostic rate. Therefore, authors questioned need histological evaluation. Methods prospectively studied all patients undergoing image-guided under care single surgeon (P.L.G.) between July 2005 October 2007. A Stryker neuronavigation system with trajectory guide was used plan trajectory, and, using side-cutting cannula, multiple samples were taken from 1 4 sites within tumor.
