摘要: Calophyllum (Calophyllaceae), previously placed in Clusiaceae, is easily recognizable by its opposite entire leaves with close parallel venation alternating resin canals. However, distinction between species has been difficult, because of infraspecific variation tepal and stamen number resemblance among that share similar habitats. Here, I report the results multivariate analyses morphological anatomical characters for South America, provide a taxonomic treatment genus first since Vesque 1893. Thirteen preliminary morphogroups were identified. Thirty-two leaf, flower fruit from 401 specimens, 17 leaf 45 specimens measured analysed using principal component (PCAs) discriminant (DAs). PCAs used to find groups DAs validate those potential groups. Two main subgroups identified general analysis. Subgroup M1 terete stems smaller flowers than subgroup M2, which, instead, quadrangular stems. Only M2 showed distinctive clusters regional local analyses. Distinctive helped us recognize four including new species, Calophyllum pubescens sp. nov.. In addition, Calophyllum mesoamericanum nov., described Central America. © 2013 The Linnean Society London,
