摘要: WAN bandwidth remains a constrained resource that is economically infeasible to substantially overprovision. Hence, it important allocate capacity according service priority and based on the incremental value of additional allocation. For example, may be highest for one receive 10Gb/s but upon reaching such an allocation, drop sharply favoring allocation other services. Motivated by observation individual flows with fixed not ideal basis we present design implementation Bandwidth Enforcer (BwE), global, hierarchical infrastructure. BwE supports: i) service-level following prioritized functions where can represent arbitrary collection flows, ii)independent delegation policies user-defined hierarchy, all accounting global view failure conditions, iii) multi-path forwarding common in traffic-engineered networks, iv) central administrative point override (perhaps faulty) policy during exceptional conditions. has delivered more efficient utilization simpler management production multiple years.
