Precision LEP data, supersymmetric GUTs and string unification

摘要: Abstract The precision of sin 2 θ MS w (m z ) extracted from LEP data (0.233±0.001) confirms the prediction minimal supersymmetric GUTs (0.235±0.004) within errors about 2%. Moreover, with three generations and a heavy top quark also predict mb=5.2±0.3 GeV in perfect agreement potential model estimates (5.0±0.2 GeV). String unification would require that effective grand scale mGUT be no larger than string mSU, which is indeed consistent data, indicate mGUT∼2×1016 GUT, compared theoretical estimate mSU∼1017 Specific choices ofthe moduli could enforce mGUT=mSU even GUTs, whilst non-minimal can reconcile successful predictions sin2θw for generic values moduli, but tend to have mb too large.
