摘要: This paper analyses the broad methodological structure of population-biological theorising. In it, I show that distinction between initial exploratory, hypothesis-generating research and subsequent process-reconstructing, hypothesis-testing type is not being made. Rather, hypotheses generated in population biology are elaborated such detail students confound phase with hypotheses-testing research. this context, therefore analyse some testing procedures within exploration that, as an extreme form confusion, statistical null-models mistakenly given status causal theory.
