摘要: Environmental Research Program (NERP), is one of five multi-institutional research hubs established to ‘provide robust science that essential for managing the sustainability Australia’s environment’ (DSEWPaC 2011). The hub comprises a team researchers from University Tasmania, Antarctic Climate & Ecosystems Cooperative Centre, Australian National University, Murdoch Griffith and Charles Sturt University. aim develop tools, techniques policy options enable biodiversity be considered at landscape scale. Hub focussing on two study areas: Tasmanian Midlands Alps. The Alps extend over 500 kilometres Brindabella Ranges in New South Wales (NSW), through Namadgi Park Capital Territory Snowy Mountains (NSW) Victorian Alps. are known their rich biodiversity, geodiversity, heritage scenic values. These values have been acknowledged Heritage listing recognition as Landscape (AALC region also contains internationally significant wetland sites many endemic threatened fauna flora associated ecological communities. Much alps public land, bulk which managed protected area under state territory legislation. eleven major areas are: ACT, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve; NSW, Kosciuszko Parks, Bimberi Scabby Range Reserves; Victoria, Mt Buffalo, Alpine, River Baw Avon Wilderness Park. Adjacent these reserves forests private lands, latter being primarily located lower elevation valleys surrounding high country. This report contributes Landscapes Policy by providing socio-economic profile encompassing hub’s Social Institutional Futures Project investigating social institutional elements landscapes, with particular focus subalpine alpine landscapes scattered used frame this based previous Curtis et al. (2003a), Webb (2004) ABS (2004). This provided help identify potential futures shape institutional, planning management arrangements directed towards improving outcomes.
