Heating rates for an atom in a far-detuned optical lattice

摘要: We calculate single-atom heating rates in a far-detuned optical lattice, connection with recent experiments. first derive master equation, which includes realistic atomic internal structure and quantum treatment of the motion lattice. The experimental feature that lattices are obtained by superimposing laser standing waves different frequencies is also included, leads to micromotional correction light shift we evaluate. then calculate, compare results, two rates, total rate (which corresponds increase mechanical energy atom lattice), ground-band within ground band lattice). remarkably independent state sign detuning. In contrast, deep lattice limit strongly suppressed for blue-detuned respect red-detuned lattices.
