摘要: Lake-wide phytoplankton chlorophyll a concentrations and primary production were determined for lakes Huron, Michigan, Superior in 2010–2013. Chlorophyll using MODIS imagery with color-producing agent algorithm the Great Lakes Production Model remotely sensed empirically derived input from Upper Lakes. The new estimates agreed well field measurements. mean observations all 12 months highest Lake (mean = 0.99 mg/m3), intermediate Michigan 0.88 lowest Huron 0.77 mg/m3). In Superior, gradient was noted shallow zone (0–30 m, 1.57 mg/m3) to deep-water (> 150 0.94 However, no differences shallow-, mid-, or zones (means, 0.83, 0.86, 0.90 mg/m3, respectively). areal integrated rates not significantly different 2010–2013 period 216, 259, 228 mg C/m2/d, Also, depth (shallow, mid, deep) similar across lakes. Annual whole-lake carbon fixation values ranged 4.4 5.7 Tg/y 5.0–7.2 6.4–9.5 Superior.
