摘要: This paper presents an overview of current solid waste management (SWM) practices in Kolkata, India and suggests solutions to some the major problems. More than 2920 ton/d are generated Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) area budget allocation for 2007-2008 was Rs. 1590 million (US$40 million), which amounts 265/cap-y (US$6.7/cap-d) on SWM. expenditure is insufficient provide adequate SWM services. Major deficiencies were found all elements Despite 70% being allocated collection, collection efficiency around 60-70% registered residents less 20% unregistered (slum dwellers). The process deficient terms manpower vehicle availability. Bin capacity provided but locations be inappropriate, thus contributing inefficiency system. At this time, no treatment dumped open land at Dhapa after collection. Lack suitable facilities (equipment infrastructure) underestimates generation rates, inadequate technical skills, improper bin route planning responsible poor transportation municipal wastes.
