摘要: SUMMARY 1. Previous studies of invertebrate responses to hydrological disconnection from the flow and drying have focussed on habitats with long hydroperiods (dry slowly after disconnection, i.e. months years). We focus here effects short rapidly hours days) river communities insect emergence. 2. used natural scour pools in an alluvial measure changes benthos emergence during a 5-month drought. The represented gradient (time complete water loss). monitored level physicochemical conditions continuously. Benthic invertebrates bottom each pool aquatic insects that emerged surface as aerial adults were sampled at 1- 7-day intervals connected, disconnected dry periods. data group into quick-drying slow-drying hydroperiod classes. 3. Community structure changed dried. densities larval Diptera higher connected period than period, while those Ephemeroptera Trichoptera pupae period. Taxon richness was pools. Shannon–Wiener diversity increased decreased pools, but there no detectable effect 4. Total decreasing However, rates (individuals per day) numerically dominant genus Deleatidium declining level. 5. Some did not development persisted until dominated by taxa desiccation-resistance traits.
