摘要: The performance of S-bends, which are used for connecting waveguides offset with respect to each other, is very important in integrated-optic waveguide circuits. Several approaches the design S-bends have been reported literature. These include, particular, designs based on simple sinusoidal curves as well relatively complicated, but more general, polynomial curves. This paper reports a comparison calculated pure bend loss such typical silica-based operating at wavelength 1550 nm. It shown that cosine S-bands yield close obtained from general curve-based S-bends. Design also presented these two types calculations analytical expression proposed by Marcuse. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 19: 289–292, 1998.
