摘要: Background The role of polyphenol intake on cardiovascular risk factors is little explored, particularly in people with diabetes. Aim: To evaluate the association between total polyphenols and classes major a population type 2 diabetes. Methods Dietary habits were investigated 2573 males females participants TOSCA.IT study. The European Prospective Investigation Cancer Nutrition (EPIC) questionnaire was used to assess dietary habits. In all participants, among others, we assessed anthropometry, plasma lipids, blood pressure, C-reactive protein HbA1c following standard protocol. USDA Phenol-Explorer databases estimate content habitual diet. Results Average 683.3 ± 5.8 mg/day. Flavonoids phenolic acids predominant (47.5% 47.4%, respectively). After adjusting for potential confounders, highest energy-adjusted (upper tertile) had more favorable profile as compared lowest (lower (BMI 30.7 vs 29.9 kg/m2, HDL-cholesterol 45.1 46.9 mg/dl, LDL-cholesterol 103.2 102.1 mg/dl, triglycerides 153.4 148.0 mg/dl, systolic diastolic pressure respectively 135.3 134.3 80.5 79.6 mm/Hg, 7.70 7.67%, Protein 1.29 1.25 mg/dl, p < .001 all). findings very similar when analysis conducted separately flavonoids or acids, two main consumed this population. Conclusions Polyphenol associated profile, independent confounders. These support consumption foods beverages rich different diabetes.
