摘要: ABSTRACT The Central Tissue Bank, established in 1963, and two other multi-tissue banks operating Poland provide connective tissue allografts such as bone, cartilage, tendons, sclera, skin, acellular dermis amnion. All grafts are radiation sterilised with a dose of 35 kGy 60Co source and/or electron beam 10 MeV accelerator. Over 250,000 radiation-sterilised have been prepared used hospital departments throughout not one case infectious disease transmission has reported to date. High doses ionising can evoke numerous chemical physical changes that may affect biological quality allografts, osteoinductive potential the mechanical properties bone well rate their resorption vivo. origin stability free radicals paramagnetic entities radiation-induced will be discussed. effect various preservation procedures (e.g. lyophilisation, deep-freezing) sterilisation conditions (doses, temperature irradiation) on degradation collagen, major constituent grafts, presented. results interdisciplinary research performed at Bank Warsaw, collaboration chemists from Institute Nuclear Chemistry Technology indicate, diminished by modification methods that, some extent it is possible reduce undesired damage grafts.
