Livelihoods of Fringe Communities and the Impacts on the Management of Conservation Area: The Case of Kakum National Park in Ghana

摘要: SUMMARY In the developing countries most of rural communities depend on forest resources for their livelihood. The establishment protected areas and national parks however deprive them having access to these resources. Using both quantitative qualitative methods, this study assessed NTFPs collection situation fringe after Kakum National Park, extent which livelihood has been improved, how presence or absence improvement strategies shaped attitudes perceptions toward park. results showed that about 17% household leaders were unemployed. Livelihood support such as alternatives enhancement, social capital sociological tourism found be absent.
