摘要: Rhino-orbitocerebral mucormycosis (ROCM) caused by more common zygomycetes (e.g., Mucor) is known to cause rapidly fatal infections in immunocompromised patients. Apophysomyces elegans an emerging zygomycete that has been reported invasive cutaneous and rhino-orbitocerebral immunocompetent individuals. Limited data exist describing the syndrome of ROCM A. elegans. We describe a recent case performed comprehensive literature review delineate clinical characteristics Our 50-year-old man with diabetes mellitus who presented facial pain right eye proptosis. Endoscopic sinus sampling revealed He was treated liposomal amphotericin B multiple debridements, no disease on 1.5-year follow-up examination. Seven cases were identified review, including present case. Most patients (86%) male, mean age 40 years. (71%) did not have predisposing medical conditions. Three had head trauma. All and/or periorbital pain. magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography showing intraorbital inflammation. Diagnosis confirmed histopathology deep tissue culture all cases. required exenteration extensive surgical debridement, addition intravenous B.
