FERAL HOGS IN THE ROLLING PLAINS OF TEXAS: PERSPECTIVES, PROBLEMS, AND POTENTIAL

摘要: Feral hogs (Sus scrofa) have expanded their territory in Texas and are now found all but the extreme western portions of state. Perhaps most dramatic expansion has occurred Rolling Plains northwest Texas. Perspectives on feral range from definitely for to adamantly against. Problems encountered with include: (1) damage crops livestock, or facilities equipment, (2) transmission disease humans (3) interaction native wildlife including competition available resources, depredation destruction habitat. The hog is also an animal economic potential. Revenue can be generated by selling hunting them.
