摘要: The mammalian zona pellucida (ZP) is an extracellular glycoprotein coat that plays vital roles throughout fertilisation and preimplantation development. Like of eutherian mammals the brushtail possum ZP composed three glycosylated proteins 137 kDa, 92 kDa 62 kDa. protein a ZP3 orthologue based on its nucleotide deduced amino acid sequence. cDNA isolated in this study 1305 nucleotides with open reading frame encoding 422 peptide 45.7 Possum has 46% identity shares similar structural characteristics including 12 conserved cysteine residues, N-linked glycosylation sites hydrophobic regions. human rabbit ZP1 altered furin cleavage site upstream C-terminal domain also occurs (S-R-K-R), suggestive processing by furin-related endoprotease. Expression limited to ovary. Characterisation will enable examination functional role marsupial effectiveness as immunocontraceptive agent.
