摘要: An increase in interest in crimes against people with developmental disabilities (PWDD) has been observed the past decade. However, little attention given to intrafamilial homicides of PWDD. This paper provides a preliminary description of these types homicides as they affect PWDD. Content analysis media accounts PWDD describes characteristics those involved and circumstances homicides. study examined subset data 1967 homicides PWDD found 308 cases of homicide representing deaths 314 These represented 15.96% overall PWDD obtained original study. A similar number male female victims were reported. Compared other family members, biological parents were most frequently implicated PWDD, with mothers, acting alone, most often. Biological mothers were most daughters, while biological fathers sons. The majority who were killed were four years age or younger. Beating, shooting, neglect, asphyxia, burns, poisoning were the common causes of death. Discussion focuses on representation homicides, homicide, prevention.
