摘要: Bacillus anthracis is a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium, which causes anthrax, an often lethal disease of animals and humans. Although the has been well studied since nineteenth century, it witnessed renewed interest during past decade, due to its use as bioterrorist agent in fall 2001 USA. A number techniques aimed at rapidly detecting B. anthracis, environmental samples point-of-care settings for humans suspected exposure pathogen, are now available. These technologies range from culture-based methods portable DNA amplification devices. Despite recent developments, specific identification still remains difficult because phenotypic genotypic similarities with other species. Accordingly, many efforts being made improve specificity identification. This mini-review discusses current challenges around identification, not only reach-back laboratories but also field (in operational conditions).
