摘要: Abstract The shallow groundwater hydrology of a sequence red, yellow, and grey earths (Paleustalfs, Plinthustalfs Ochraqualfs “Soil Taxonomy”) was monitored over 9-year period (1973–1982) along drilled transect 30 boreholes near Torrens Creek, in northeastern Australia. Climatic analysis shows an aridic soil moisture regime under which water surpluses should not occur, thus significant hydromorphism would be expected the soils. present study has demonstrated, however, that profile saturation tables may to develop at various depths soils as often 1 year 3. Besides, strong linear relationships were found between number morphological features hydrological regimes currently active profiles: upper limits brown, brownish or red mottles, limit ironstone gravels, maximum content clay are all most closely related mean position shallowest observed; mottles with chromas two less directly saturated for 5 weeks; depth gravels base solum associated 10 15 dominantly colours strongly mottled subsols best saturations least 21 weeks. results indicate gley profiles could have developed, part, response current regime.
