摘要: Drooling is problematic for some neurologically impaired children. Botulinum toxin A injection to salivary glands has effectively reduced drooling in adults but only recently been used treat This was a preliminary study determine the efficacy and safety of botulinum Children identified as having severe daily were enrolled. The preinjection assessment included measurement amount frequency drool. Each parotid gland injected with 5 U A. Follow-up minimum 16 weeks. Nine children enrolled, 4-17 years age. All had moderate or mental retardation. At week 4, all patients eight nine reduction weight saliva. Overall, five parents (55%) deemed treatment successful. demonstrates that relatively effective significant without serious side effects.
