摘要: A number of vertebrate species have been shown to flee at species-specific distances when approached by a predator but data on invertebrate escape behaviour are few. Grasshoppers visually-orienting invertebrates that switch between walking undisturbed flying or jumping from predators, thereby allowing the beginning and end an attempt be clearly defined. I studied approach distances, angles nine sympatric acridid grasshoppers. Both distance were correlated with each other differed among species. Angle showed no discernible trends. Within some variation in was seen sexes colour morphs. The phylogeny not body size.
