The impact of childhood gender expression on childhood sexual abuse and psychopathology among young men who have sex with men

摘要: Young men who have sex with (MSM) are a risk group highly vulnerable to HIV infection and psychiatric symptoms direct predictors of sexual behavior in MSM. Childhood abuse (CSA) is associated symptomology adolescence, MSM disproportionately impacted by CSA compared heterosexuals. Some evidence suggests that childhood gender nonconformity, natural variation human expression, more common than heterosexual males places at greater for CSA. This study examined whether or not expression moderated the association between incidents unwanted, early experiences occurring before age 13 (ESE) current community-based sample 449 young aged 16–20. Analyses revealed significant bivariate associations ESE psychological symptoms, multivariable ESE, nonconformity outcomes. may be victimized thereby increasing their likelihood developing adolescence. Early intervention addressing these factors help reduce lifetime negative sequelae.
