摘要: The southern part of Tyrrhenian back-arc basin (NW Sicily), formed due to the rifting and spreading processes in setting, is currently undergoing contractional tectonics. analysis seismic reflection profiles integrated with bathymetry, magnetic data seismicity allowed us map a widespread tectonics structures, such as positive flower anticlines inverted normal faults, which deform sedimentary sequence intra-slope basins. Two main tectonic phases have been recognised: (i) Pliocene extensional phase, active during opening Vavilov Basin, was responsible for formation elongated basins bounded by faulted continental blocks controlled tear subducting lithosphere; (ii) phase related Africa-Eurasia convergence coeval Marsili Basin Quaternary time. lithospheric occurred along Drepano paleo-STEP (Subduction-Transform-Edge-Propagator) fault, where upwelling mantle, intruding crust, ridge. Since Pliocene, most deformation has focused this ridge, becoming good candidate future subduction initiation zone.
