摘要: Abstract Maltreatment continues to be a leading cause of death for young children. Researchers are beginning uncover which neighborhood attributes may associated with maltreatment outcomes. However, few studies have been able explore these influences while controlling individual family attributes, and none parse out the most severe outcomes—injuries resulting in hospitalization or death. This study utilizes retrospective, case-control design on dataset containing both environmental level children who hospitalized died due relative influence inside outside household walls. Binary conditional logistic regression was used model outcome as function predictors. Separate analyses also separated by manner maltreatment: abuse neglect. Finally, sub-analysis included protective predictors representing access supportive resources. Findings indicate that were similar cases controls, except neglect only model, wherein impoverishment higher odds serious maltreatment. Dense housing increased risk all models model. In sub-analysis, distance Family Resource Centers inversely related models, variables more extreme intervention and/or removal victim perpetrator from home (foster care criminal court involvement) negatively becoming case. Medi-Cal insurance eligibility child Government interventions playing critical role protection. More research is needed ascertain how assert their influence.
