摘要: We describe an optical method for quantifying surface tension in 96-well microtitre plates. Absorbance and fluorescence measurements vertical beam systems as plate photometers are complicated by the interaction of light with curved liquid. If samples do not all have same meniscus, errors data proportional to degree curvature produced, which may confound interpretation data. harnessed this effect modifying a spectrophotometer, show that apparent density correlate very closely tension. The is much quicker than conventional methods measuring multiple requires considerably less technical skill. demonstrate applicability study biomolecules investigating surfactant properties two peptides (Aβ AChE586–599) form amyloid fibrils vitro, one case replicating previously published results, other highlighting similarity, possibly generic nature, biophysical these amyloidogenic peptides.
