National economic implications of substituting plant oils for diesel fuel

摘要: A regional field crop and national livestock econometric model (TECHSIM) was used to examine the impacts of diverting plant oils (cottonseed soybeans) use as a diesel fuel replacement. Two scenarios which represented five ten percent replacement agriculture's by were simulated. Producers shift into cotton soybean production out corn, small grains grain sorghum. Significant price shifts estimated for cottonseed meal oil, fed beef, pork sheep. The annual reduction in social well being at about $.5 billion over $1 5 10 percent, respectively agricultural's oils. 2 figures, 4 tables.
