摘要: The study reports the results of an acoustic analysis vowel reduction /iː/ vowel, considering all three traditionally explored aspects reduction, i.e. duration, F1 and F2 in read speech produced by 12 native speakers English. Starting from observation that standard literature considers only duration as a proxy for overall aim is to verify whether exhibit (construed shortening centralization formants, respectively) same degree. r test reveals lack robust linear correlation between F2, highest value being 0.51 (the F1) 0.24 F2), neither which strong correlation. In light results, seeks establish gradual scale combining spatial temporal means averaging distances least most reduced tokens across F1/F2 on equal basis. resulting degree expressed ranging 0 (no whatsoever) 100 per cent (reduction schwa).
