摘要: The first optical spectrum of an isolated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon large enough to survive the photophysical conditions interstellar medium is reported. Vibronic bands electronic transition all-benzenoid hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene were observed in 4080-4530 A range by resonant 2-color 2-photon ionization spectroscopy. strongest feature at 4264 estimated have oscillator strength f = 1.4 × 10−3, placing upper limit on abundance this 4 1012 cm−2, accounting for a maximum ~0.02% carbon. This study opens up possibility rigorously test neutral hydrocarbons as carriers diffuse near future.
