摘要: Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness determination telomerase activity and expression human RNA component (hTERC) reverse transcriptase (hTERT) for diagnosis lung carcinomas. tissues studied consisted 115 carcinomas adjacent nonneoplastic lung, which were removed surgically without previous chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Telomerase determined using a semiquantitative polymerase chain reaction-based telomeric repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) assay. results obtained classified into high low groups. Localization examined by in situ hybridization immunohistochemistry. correlation between carcinoma clinicopathologic features, including prognosis, investigated. detected 107 (93%) carcinomas, but not any noncancerous tissues, significantly higher small cell than other histologic type. This also poorly differentiated well-differentiated squamous adenocarcinomas. overall survival rate (P =.020) lower group. Messenger RNAs hTERC hTERT mainly cytoplasm cancer cells hybridization, TERT protein localized nuclei these immunohistochemical staining. Determinations immunohistochemistry, TRAP assay are useful evaluating prognosis H UM P ATHOL 32:188-195. Copyright © 2001 W.B. Saunders Company
