Imaging of body packing: errors and medico-legal issues

摘要: Body packing is the ingestion or insertion in human body of packed illicit substances. Over last 20 years, drug smuggling has increased global and new means transport narcotics have emerged. Among these, most frequent one gastrointestinal tract: from mouth to anus, vagina, ears. Cocaine traded drugs, followed by heroin. Condoms, latex gloves, balloons are typically used as packets for retention body. There different radiologic modalities detect drugs packing: Plain radiography, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, magnetic resonance. Current protocols recommend use radiography confirm packet and, case doubt, abdominal CT scan with reduced mAs. In rupture, catastrophic effects can occur. Management patients carrying a recurrent medico-legal problem. To improve diagnostic accuracy prevent hazardous complications, radiologists emergency physicians should be familiar features packing. The radiologist plays both social role their assessment, it not limited only identification packages but must also provide accurate information about number exact location. this review, we focus on errors issues related radiological assessment packers.
