摘要: Uncomplicated placement of an intraocular lens at the time routine cataract extraction is associated with a greater inflammatory response than simple extraction. We have shown that certain components prosthetic lenses are capable activating complement system in human serum such fashion as to generate peptides mediating acute reactions. Normal was incubated vitro and then examined for cleavage products C3 C5 C5-derived chemotactic activity polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Polymethylmethacrylate nylon polypropylene loops were found be causing (detected by crossed immunoelectrophoresis) single-dimension radioimmunoelectrophoresis) well generation serum. Serum polymethylmethacrylate without loop supports exhibited no activity. Results our studies indicate nylon- polypropylene-looped not "inert" biologically may elicit
