摘要: Barley, an important member of the cereals, has been successfully transformed through various methods such as particle bombardment, Agrobacterium tumefaciens, DNA uptake, and electroporation. Initially, transformation in barley concentrated on developing protocols using marker genes gus, bar, hpt. Immature embryos callus derived from immature were targeted for transformation. Subsequently, agronomic malting importance have deployed barley. Particle bombardment appears to be preferred choice majority reports, although Agrobacterium-mediated is being used more often. The current review focuses challenges encountered somaclonal variation, development systems commercial cultivars, gene expression, stability inheritance, flow. Newer markers green fluorescent protein (gfp), firefly luciferase, phosphomannose isomerase found useful selection transgenic plants. Tissue-specific promoters those B1-hordein D-hordein genes, spike-specific promoters, are increasingly drive expression. also describes recent research gene-tagging transformation, insertion disease resistance, abiotic stress resistance with improved quality, nutrient content, feed production enzymes pharmaceutical compounds.
