Depression in adult dermatology outpatients.

摘要: Objective: To determine the frequency of depression in adult male dermatology outpatients. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration Study: Combined Military Hospital, Bahawalpur, from January to March 2007. Methodology: A consecutive sample was screened for by using Urdu version General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12). The final diagnosis based on criteria International Classification Diseases-10. Results: Out 114 males with dermatological disorders, 39 (34.11%) had depression. percentage conditions 6 (100%) psychocutaneous 2 (66.6%) urticaria, 3 pruritis, 7 (57.5%) acne vulgaris, 4 (50%) psoriasis, (44.4%) vitiligo, (37.5%) melasma, 1 (33.3%) each hyperhidrosis alopecia areata, 9 (20.4%) eczema. It not recorded leprosy chronic fungal infections. Conclusion: Depression frequently disorders especially vulgaris psoriasis. Depressive symptoms should be specifically explored even at busy outdoors early recognition timely appropriate psychiatric referral.
