摘要: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses have been used in rheumatology for several purposes such as determining the efficacy or safety of certain treatment modalities, after individual studies had come up with differing inconclusive results; comparing drugs few no head-to-head trials are at hand; over a specific relatively uncommon end point. Similarly performance accuracy diagnostic tests methods, bringing together genome-wide association genetic polymorphism on cost-effectiveness is within scope systemic meta-analyses. In this chapter, we discuss essential elements good systematic literature review that turn would form backbone meta-analysis. We explain elementary statistical meta-analysis methods most important plots, like forest funnel plot. fixed-effect random-effects introduce usual measures heterogeneity between studies. All illustrated using an example from rheumatology.
