摘要: A 10-kb region of the Bacillus subtilis genome that contains genes involved in biotin-biosynthesis was cloned and sequenced. DNA sequence analysis indicated B. homologs Escherichia coli sphaericus bioA, bioB, bioD, bioF genes. These four a homolog bioW gene are arranged single operon order bioWAFDR followed by two additional genes, bioI orf2. orf2 show no similarity to any other known biotin biosynthetic The encodes protein with cytochrome P-450s able complement mutations either bioC or bioH E. coli. Mutations caused grow poorly absence biotin. bradytroph phenotype mutants overcome pimelic acid, suggesting product functions at step prior acid synthesis. bio is preceded putative vegetative promoter just downstream dyad symmetry homology regulatory sphaericus. Analysis bioW-lacZ translational fusion expression regulated birA gene.
