摘要: Virtually all microorganisms contain some unique nucleotide sequences which can be the target of deoxyribonucleic acid probes. Probes have been used successfully to identify a wide variety pathogens from simple ribonucleic acid-containing polioviruses complex filarial worms Brugia malayi. Probe technology offers clinical laboratory potential both extend types that readily identified and reduce significantly time associated with identification fastidious microorganisms. Over dozen commercially prepared probe tests are now available. This article explores development reviews sensitivity, specificity, predictive values many diagnostic probes developed during last several years. Prospects for newer, more sensitive detection systems products hybridization reactions also reviewed.
