摘要: Abstract We analyze how citizens can screen candidates for high political office in a hierarchy. In our model politicians differ willingness to misuse discretionary powers of office. Those willing abuse the (knaves) be induced hierarchy reveal their type while low office, thus disqualifying themselves advancement. Hierarchy's capacity screening knaves out depends on conditions reappointment A seemingly perverse rule that reappoints shirking perform well. To demonstrate an empirical application, we House Bank check bouncing scandal.
