摘要: We review the basic physics of surface-plasmon excitations occurring at metal/dielectric interfaces with special emphasis on possibility using such for localization electromagnetic energy in one, two, and three dimensions, a context applications sensing waveguiding functional photonic devices. Localized plasmon resonances metallic nanoparticles are discussed both single particles particle ensembles, focusing generation confined light fields enabling enhancement Raman-scattering nonlinear processes. then survey properties interface plasmons propagating along flat boundaries thin films, patterned stripes, nanowires. Interactions between plasmonic structures optically active media also discussed.
